Former Lions quarterback Erik Kramer

Former Lions quarterback Erik Kramer jokes that he is a bad shot

That might be the only reason he is alive today. Kramer suffers from depression and bad luck and bad relationships. He had enough and took an SIG Sauer 9mm handgun and shot himself in the chin. The bullet went through his sinus cavities and out of the top of his head, ripping a hole in his tongue. The bullet mangled his face but it did not kill him.

Now Kramer wants to tell his story to bring awareness of suicide. It is the 10th leading cause of death among Americans. So he spilled his guts out to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Former Lions quarterback Erik Kramer jokes that he is a bad shot Posted by Betonline team on 5/25/2016 4:38:32 AM That might be the only reason he is aliveFree Press who pinned a disturbing but important paper that all should read.

Kramer spent nine months in two hospitals in California where he underwent multiple surgeries and rehabilitation. Now Kramer believes he is recovered and has gotten rid of the demons that plagued him. “I don’t want to tempt fate but at this point I feel very good,” Kramer said. “And so my hope is to just keep living life and keep contributing and keep all that going.”

Kramer should have been the Detroit Lions starting quarterback for many years. But he was the last man in the pecking order behind veteran Rodney Peete and Heisman Trophy winner Andre Ware, who was a hot shot prospect out of the University of Houston with a strong arm but little passing touch. Former Lions quarterback Erik Kramer

Kramer had no pedigree. He played junior college ball, went to North Carolina State and ended up in the Canadian Football League before signing as a free agent with the Detroit Lions in 1990. He got his big break in 1991 after Peete tore his Achilles tendon on a player nobody touched.

Kramer took advantage and led the Lions to their only playoff victory since winning the NFL Championship since 1957.

However, he felt unappreciated in Detroit and signed with the Chicago Bears where he was injured. Depression set in, but for a brief moment, you saw a glow on his face as he trotted off the field at Soldier Field after a satisfying victory over the Lions. Former Lions quarterback Erik Kramer

But all was not good inside.

“I think it was the fall from grace,” Kramer told the Free Press. “Coming in as the starter and the free agent and then getting hurt, feeling better after a few weeks like I could play, but then not getting the opportunity to. And I think that all played a part in it.”

This has little to do with the game of football. There were sad incidents in his personal life that made things difficult for him. His father Karl died of esophageal cancer and his son Griffin died of a heroin overdose in 2011.

Kramer got suicidal thoughts and reached out to friends, family, and doctors. He checked into the Eisenhower Center where another former Lions quarterback worked – Eric Hipple. Former Lions quarterback Erik Kramer

Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl

Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl? Seattle suffered a humbling loss last week to St. Louis but the Seahawks are worlds better than what their 2-4 start to the season suggested.

Pete Carroll’s team faces the possibility of finishing the regular season with two straight losses visiting NFC West champion Arizona on Sunday. The Cardinals are favored by 6.5 points at the SportsBetting.ag Sportsbook, but they may rest most of their starters especially if the game is out of hand in the second half.

Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl? Seattle suffered a humbling loss last week to St. Louis but the Seahawks are worlds better than what their 2-4 start to the season suggested. Even with a loss to Arizona, Seattle would finish 9-7, which means Russell Wilson and Co. would finish a respectable 7-3 in their last 10 regular season games. The Seahawks most likely will be the No. 6 seed that will face the NFC North champion, Green Bay or Minnesota, in the first round of the playoffs next week.

Seattle has the third best odds (+400) to win the NFC title behind Arizona (+160) and Carolina (+175) at the sportsbook.

The biggest key to the Seahawks’ turnaround is that Wilson is operating from the pocket efficiently. In a four-game stretch recently, he completed 81 of 99 pass attempts for 1,094 yards with 15 touchdowns and no interceptions when he stays in the pocket. In his fourth season, at the age of 27, is at his best. he’s reopened the conversation on what his ceiling is as an NFL player. Given that Wilson is still making plays with his legs, defenses are having all kinds of problems coming up with ways to attack him.

Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl

The improvement for Seattle is directly related to the development of its offensive line, which was much maligned earlier in the season. Since Week 8, Wilson has been sacked on 3.4 percent of his dropbacks, the fourth-best mark among quarterbacks. In the first seven weeks, that number was 11.7 percent (32nd). Wilson has done a better job of setting the protections and getting the Seahawks in the right look before the snap. The Seahawks have cut down on the negative plays that were killing the rhythm on offense earlier in the season.

Plenty of talk has occurred this season about how the Seahawks’ defense doesn’t look the same as it has in previous seasons. But since Kam Chancellor returned in Week 3, the Seahawks are allowing 15.82 points per game. No defense in the NFL has allowed fewer points during that span. Richard Sherman has played at a high level. There will be question marks about whether they can handle high-powered passing attacks, but the defense is in good shape going down the stretch.

Seattle Seahawks Surging

Seattle Seahawks Surging but Before the season started there would have been a high level of anticipation for this game, a late in the year slugfest between teams likely make the playoffs and even compete for the Super Bowl. However, things have not gone as planned for either, but while Seattle Seahawks Surging back to the playoffs (it seems) the Ravens are out of the race and decimated by injury. Hopefully we still get a competitive game.

Seattle Seahawks (7-5) vs. Baltimore Ravens (4-8)

Seattle

Seattle Seahawks Surging but Before the season started there would have been a high level of anticipation for this game, a late in the year slugfest between teams likely make the playoffs and even compete for the Super Bowl.It has taken some time and some injury losses but the Seahawks are finally playing like the team we thought they were. They have won three in a row, all covers, and even though Jimmy Graham is lost for the year and Marshawn Lynch’s return is unknown, they have to like their chances going forward. Seattle’s defense pummeled Minnesota last week and even without Lynch they are still able to run the ball and get the offensive balance they need. QB Russell Wilson is playing his best ball of the season without having to jam things into Graham. Over the past three game his TD/INT ratio is 11/0. In a word the team is hot.

Baltimore

Not much has gone right for the Ravens this season. In their first game they lost their defensive leader in Terrell Suggs and since then they have gone on to lose more impact players and games than they have in quite a while. If they ran the table they could finish at .500 for the year but their schedule features Wild Card contenders from both conference who are definitely not going to let them off easy. Their defense still gives them a fighting chance most days but their offense is really nut much to fear. They are simply overmatched these days.

Prediction: The only thing the Ravens have going for them in this one is the location. The Seattle Seahawks Surging seem to be peaking at the right time and though they are certainly not perfect they should have a lot of success doing what they want on both sides of the ball in this one. The number looks big but when you look at these teams closely and currently it seems pretty fair. Just bet it before it jumps to 10.

Pick: Seattle -9

Thanksgiving Day betting is always heavy and this game – one of three NFL games on Thursday — is seeing a whole lot of action. Intertops Sportsbook has Stake Back specials on two games and a No-Juice offer on the other.

“The Panthers are still undefeated, but Tony Romo just returned from an injury,” noted one Intertops’ bet manager. “The win at Miami after 7 straight losses in Romo’s absence has kept Dallas’ slim playoff hopes alive, but can the Cowboys stop the still-perfect Panthers, that’s the question.”

Chiefs Monday Night Football

The Green Bay Packers remain undefeated heading in to a Week 3 game under the lights of Chiefs Monday Night Football. According to their fans, the Kansas City Chiefs probably should be perfect too. The Chiefs lost their best opportunity yet to end their extended losing streak to the AFC West rival Denver Broncos on Thursday Night Football, turning the football over five times and blowing a pair of leads in a 31-24 loss. The Chiefs will hope for better luck this week against the Green Bay Packers but any chance they have will begin with protecting the football and limiting the types of mistakes they made against Denver when they visit Lambeau Field on Monday night.

Monday September 28, 2015 – 8:30 PM ET

NFL Betting Line: Green Bay -6.5

Kansas City has lost seven straight games to the Broncos and it’s easy to pinpoint what happened in the latest of them. The Chiefs turned the football over five times including two interceptions by Alex Smith as well as a pair of lost fumbles by Jamaal Charles with the biggest of them clearly the one returned for the game-winning touchdown in the final minute of regulation to decide the game. Charles ran for 125 yards and one touchdown but the bottom line is that Kansas City must do a much better job protecting the football beginning with the team’s star running back. Green Bay’s run defense has been terrible early on this season so he should have plenty of chances to do some damage if he can avoid putting the ball on the turf. The Chiefs also need to be better on third down after going 0-for-7 in those situations against Denver and while Lambeau Field is a tough environment they should have an easier time moving the football against the Packers than they did last week. The problem for Kansas City will be how to approach limiting Aaron Rodgers, who has completed 545 straight attempts at Lambeau Field without throwing an interception. Green Bay has won ten straight home games and they are at their most dangerous when Rodgers and running back Eddie Lacy are firing on all cylinders. The Chiefs defense won’t completely shut down the Green Bay offense in this game but they can at least slow them down and keep this game close in order to cover the spread with current line right near the key number of seven points.

Pick: Kansas City +6.5

Total: 49

Chiefs Monday Night Football

Kansas City won’t be able to completely shut down the Packers attack but they can slow them down by running the football and keeping it out of Rodgers’ hands as much as possible. The Chiefs have the weapons to have their way with the Green Bay defense but the key will be protecting the football and not making the same mistakes they made last week. Look for Andy Reid to take a very conservative approach and do everything he can to keep this game close for as long as possible. The Packers will score enough to win this game but not enough to push the total oer the number.

Pick: UNDER
